Big Boy Bed
We are now less than 1 month away from Baby Lucas's due date. We've been working hard on getting Levi's new bedroom set up before Lucas arrives so that way he's not getting kicked out of his bedroom as soon as his brother shows up. We finally got everything squared away (for the most part) this weekend, and tonight Levi is sleeping in his "big boy bed" for the first time. How is it going? Well, its after 10 and he's still awake, so that's not a good start to the evening. He has been giving a running commentary on what appears to be an imaginary basketball game between him and papa though so at least its been entertaining.

Aww! Brings back memories. We did the same for Brianna when we were expecting Alexander and for the same reason. She *loved* her big-girl bed -- to play on. For sleeping, she still wanted the crib, thank you very much! We started a little earlier than you did, so we allowed that for a while, hoping she'd decide on her own to start sleeping in the bed. But no, eventually we had to take the crib down and force the issue. Had we known how much Alexander hated the crib and how little he would sleep in it, she could have kept it longer. I had no idea some babies will simply *refuse* to sleep more than 1 foot away from their mother, but I can attest that it is so. Luckily, I had only one baby like that. :o) Here's hoping you dodge that bullet all-together! Though, I hasten to add that there *were* some silver linings -- while some of my most harrowing mother-of-baby memories have to do with Alexander and his sleep issues, some of my most tender memories are connected with his closeness to us at waking. I remember soaking in the feeling of him snuggled against me, waking to his beautiful face and soft breath and hands and the leisurely moments of snuggle before the day began. While I remain very grateful that Brianna slept so well in her crib, I do wish I'd had more moments like that with her. With baby #3, we got a middle-of-the-road sleeper that allowed us to strike a balance. Nice. :o)
